In the late 1960s thousands of young people fueled on drugs and waving flowers invaded California seeking to change society.
Among them was a wild eyed, bitter delinquent named Charles Manson. Manson believed that The Beatles’ White Album held a hidden message warning of a forthcoming race war. Determined to trigger this holocaust, survive it and take world control, Manson gathered a band of fellow believers he called “the Family”. He called his crusade ‘Helter Skelter’ (based on the Beatles song from the White Album). ‘The Family’ practised free love and murder. Their victims included Sharon Tate, wife of film director Roman Polanski, house guests and neighbours. The brutality of the killings caused wordwide revulsion. Manson was trapped by idle chatter and was left to ponder his plan for supremacy in a prison cell, in the company of his closest disciples.
