Producers from “Dateline NBC” first heard about the murder of Brandy Daniels, and the years-long investigation that followed, last summer.
They were immediately intrigued.
“It’s almost like a police procedural,” said Dennis Murphy, correspondent for “Dateline.” “Your authorities know who did it, but are they going to be able to get him?”
The murder happened on May 5, 2014. The individuals responsible — Josh Daniels and Sirius Underwood — were indicted in April 2016. Both ultimately pleaded guilty: Daniels in December 2016 and Underwood in February 2017.
Both were sentenced to life in prison, Daniels with a possibility of parole after 28 years and Underwood after 38 years.
Daniels’s wife, Brandy, was 25 when she was killed in her car at the end of her parents’ driveway in northern Muskingum County. She was dead just minutes before she was found by her sister.
